Paul Park aka YYC Street Photography

I am a photographer based out of Calgary, Canada who focuses on capturing the beauty in everyday life

The goal of my work is to help show people that they can view their surroundings and find the beauty in it. There are everyday scenes that if seen from a different perspective, turn into something memorable. Whether it is a train passing by, rain drops hitting a window, or the sunlight hitting just right. A photograph forever captures a moment that would have otherwise been lost to father time. Unfortunately we all can’t just fly to New York or Tokyo whenever we desire, so why not enjoy where you are!

Photography and art mean a lot to me because it really changed and impacted my perspective on life. I felt that I was just going through the motions of life to meet the expectations of society with zero inspiration. I now take the time to observe my surroundings and be thankful for things I normally would have passed off as a given. If my photographs or videos can help people escape reality and see the beauty of life for even 15 seconds, then it was worth the hours to make the art.

I grew up as a quiet introvert who liked to keep to myself. Photography has helped me break out of my shell and showcase my personality. The great thing about photos is that they will do all the talking for you and evoke the emotions you want to convey without you saying a single word. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect my work to be seen by millions of people each month. It is a true blessing and I am forever grateful for all of your support!

If you are considering taking up photography, just do it! I started to take photography more seriously only a few years ago and it constantly brings a smile to my face. I am proudly self-taught, using just YouTube resources and practice to get me to where my photography is at today. Starting out with your phone is a good place to start and then you can move to a new camera if you enjoy the hobby :). Photography has also led me to meet amazing people along the journey. You will not regret giving it a try!

“Calgary is just as cool as New York City, but don’t quote me on that” - Paul
